Mono and Dragon bring us Tanks of the World, a new standard lineup of 1/35-scale military kits that brings us Dragon's outstanding kits in Japanese packaging with Japanese assembly manuals developed by Mono! The first kit in this new series is the German Panzer I Type B.

After its defeat in World War I, Germany was severely restricted from developing weapons. The Panzer I was developed under the guise of an agricultural tractor. It was equipped with a 7.92mm MG13k machine gun as its main armament, with two swivel guns. Production began in 1934, and improvements were added in 1935. The engine was changed to a Maybach NL38TR six-cylinder liquid-cooled gasoline engine, giving it up to 100hp. The body length was also extended and the number of wheels increased accordingly. Its performance also improved, with a maximum speed of 25mph and a maximum slope of 60 percent. It was used during the Spanish Civil War which began in 1936, and after that it played an active part as one of the main forces of the German troops in early battles of World War II, such as the invasion of Poland and the progress of France.
