This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
For several years, the Ludwig brothers in Essen, Germany, had been installing their own body designs on the chassis bases of the trucks of major German car manufacturers. In the 1930s, Ludwig & Co. cooperated particularly closely with Opel. After the appearance of the Opel Blitz 3t truck, the Ludwig brothers developed several new concept bodies for this vehicle; one of them was a bus with a new sleek, rounded body. Designers at Ludwig Studio deviated from the traditional Opel shape commonly found in trucks and other buses to create a new rounded shape for the front of the body. The hood was elegantly combined with the front wheel fenders, and the rear of the body carried an aerodynamic crest reminiscent of the fins of a giant fish. The interior also differed from the usual seating arrangement -- passenger chairs were placed at a 45-degree angle to the windows for the best view, and the back seat was a chair like a sofa. This bus was made individually in the Ludwig workshop, as production was quite expensive even at that time. However, when World War II began, at least one of these vehicles was requisitioned by the Armed Forces and used on the Eastern Front for transporting officers.
