This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The Kettenkraftrad was the smallest of the half-tracks operated by the German Army during World War II. The engine in the center of the vehicle drives the tracks, and the motorcycle-type steering wheel controls the direction of travel. With its low center of gravity and pinch-type wheels, it boasts high running performance and traction. In addition, among the over 8,000 Kettenkraftrad manufactured during the war, examples produced from 1943 to 1944 feature a rounded tail-light base and a reinforcing plate on the side of the rear seat. It was used for a wide range of missions on each front in the latter part of the war.
Tamiya's kit of the Kettenkraftrad features a reduced number of parts for the realistically reproduced engine and transmission for ease of assembly; the engine hatch can be opened and closed. The tracks are connected with straight parts, and the pad is a separate part. Figures of two infantrymen and a driver are included (the driver comes with two right hand parts and two heads), as is a trailer for the Kettenkraftrad for loading luggage, etc. Photo-etched parts for the engine grille and a jig to bend them are also included.
