Description
This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
Very early in the LRDG's history, it was recognized that patrols could be at risk of ambush attacks by enemy armored vehicles. To counter this potential threat, the last truck of each patrol was equipped with some type of light artillery. The 37mm Bofors was a very common anti-tank gun used on all fronts of the war. The Bofors 37mm gun was installed on the Chevrolet WB and Ford F30, but was quite unpopular with soldiers because it added weight to the vehicle and took up too much space. Enemy armored vehicles were rarely encountered, and some of the Bofors guns were sometimes removed by truck crews to make room for supplies. The LRDG's Bofors gun trucks typically carried 45 AP and 45 HE rounds. In addition, it was mounted on a special gun mount and could rotate 360 degrees, and the height of the tilt plate on the loading platform was lowered to provide a better field of fire for the gun.
