This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The Macchi MC.205 Veltro was developed to further improve the performance of the Macchi MC.202 Folgore, which was said to be a masterpiece among the fighter plans developed by Italy in World War II. Macchi developed the MC.200 in line with the R Plan, which aimed to modernize Air Force aircraft before World War II. The MC.205, developed as an evolution of the MC.200, was equipped with a liquid-cooled inverted V-type engine from Daimler-Bene of Germany, DB601A-1, which produced over 1,000 horsepower and demonstrated excellent performance. The MC.205 Veltro was created with the aim of continuing to improve performance. Its engine was the R.A. 1050RC Tifone, a licensed production of the Daimler-Benz DB605 with a supercharger that produces 1,475 horsepower, produced by Fiat. Deployed to all lines in 1943, it was said to be the best Italian fighter plane during the war, and was very active.
This model kit from Italeri includes a supplementary Japanese translation of the instruction manual! The MC.205 Veltro's design, filled with a sense of speed, is reproduced with the level of detail that only a big 1/32-scale model kit can provide, from the panel lines to the rivets. The differences from the Folgore are faithfully reproduced by adding special parts. The nose reproduces the R.A. 1050RC.58 Tifone engine, from its auxiliary equipment to the engine support frame. The cockpit, machine guns, and even the landing gear and landing gear bays are modeled realistically, and photo-etched parts are included to give a sharp finish. The cockpit meters are 3D decals, and large decals are included for the unique camouflage pattern. The rudders and tail ailerons are movable, and the flaps can be assembled opened or closed.
