This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
In the late 1950's, Northrop began a privately funded project to create a light-weight and compact supersonic jet that focused on performance and low cost maintenance. The aircraft was designed with air superiority in mind, but is also capable as a ground-attack platform. This aircraft would be named the F-5 A/B Freedom Fighter. The final design was extremely successful in the 1970 International Fighter Aircraft competition and so a program was born which aimed to provide efficient, low-cost fighters to U.S allies. This second generation Northrop fighter would be called the F-5E Tiger II with upgraded engines, wider wings for quick turning, and radar. The second generation model was also converted into a dedicated reconnaissance aircraft with a sensor package in place of the radar and one cannon, named the RF-5E Tigereye.
This amazing new 1/32 scale kit from Kitty Hawk Model takes us behind the stick of the RF-5E Tigereye with its 5 decal options including 2 for the U.S Airforce, and 1 for the Malaysian, Taiwan, and Singapore Airforce. Pilot figure not included.
