General Motors' Chevrolet Camaro made its debut in 1967. With its stylish two-door body and high-performance engine, it was one of the "muscle cars" that were created one after another in the 1960s, such as the Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger; it was also active in the American motor sports scene, and has since become an indispensable example of American car culture. However, in 2002 its production was temporarily discontinued; a new concept model appeared in 2006 due to popular demand, and in 2009 the fifth-generation Camaro was born. Its sixth generation was launched in 2016.
