The Galaxie was a full-size car in Ford's lineup from 1959 to 1974; it began as a high-end model of the Fairlane. The model was changed as early as 1960, and the 1970 Galaxie is the fourth-generation version, first appearing in 1969 and lasting through the model's end in 1974. Two-door and four-door sedans and hardtops were available, as well as a two-door convertible. There were many engine variations, from a 3.7-liter in-line six-cylinder to a 7-liter V8. It was also popular in stock car races, and the four-door sedan was frequently used as a taxi throughout the U.S.
