The Lancer Turbo is Mitsubishi's rally car that debuted in the 1981 World Rally Championship. It was developed based on the European-specification Lancer EX200-0 Turbo released in 1979. It was a front-engine, rear-drive FR two-wheel-drive macgiube developed in accordance with Group 4 specification regulations. The engine mounted on the front is an in-line four-cylinder SOHC 1997cc. Equipped with one Mitsubishi Heavy Industries turbocharger with intercooler, it generated 280 horsepower. Continuing development, it debuted in the WRC in 1981. The following year, in August 1982, at the 9th round of the 1,000 Lakes Rally held in Finland, the duo of P. Airikkala and J. Pironen finished in third place. It demonstrated the high driving performance achieved by the conventional FR 2WD mechanism and well-balanced body structure.
This model kit from NuNu uses a flash surface design to reproduce the Lancer Turbo's clean style; a set of detail-up part sis included too. Photo-etched parts for the disc brakes, wipers and seat belts are included, and decals to accurately reproduce the Number 7 machine from the 1982 1,000 Lakes Rally are included too. The mechanical reproduction, such as the suspension on the underside of the chassis, which conveys high driving performance, cannot be overlooked, and the interior, which incorporates a roll cage, is a detailed representation of rally equipment.
