Touring car races, which compete with vehicles that are close to commercial vehicles and are familiar to drivers, have always been very popular among motorsport fans around the world. BMW from Germany has been active in the world of touring car racing. The car that has made a name for itself is the M3, which is a tuned-up version of the 3 Series, and the first model was released in 1985. The 320si homogolation model based on the E90 model appeared on the stage of the WTCC, World Touring Car Championship, in 2006.

This 1/24-scale model kit from Platz reproduces the BMW 320si E90 that was active in the 2008 World Touring Car Championship; this vehicle won the 2008 WTCC Brands Hatch race. Decals are included for the markings of the machine used by Andy Priaulx of the BMW UK team in the same 2008 WTCC, with the distinctive large Union Jack marking on the roof.
