So, you like hot rods and post-apocalyptic science fiction? Then I'm sure you're no stranger to "Mad" Max Rockatansky and his super-cool Interceptor! This movie star car started life as an indigenous Australian 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe, modified to portray the Main Force Patrol Interceptor (otherwise known as "The Pursuit Special") fitted with a hot 351-cubic-inch engine with the trademark blower on top in the 1979 film "Mad Max." The film was an international hit, and Max appeared again in 1981's "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior," along with a further modified (and rather crusty) version of the Interceptor. Alas, the Interceptor did not appear in the third installment of the series...
This most excellent 1/18 die-cast model of the Interceptor as it appeared in "The Road Warrior" is fully assembled and painted, featuring fine and accurate detailing inside and out. The hood opens to reveal the incredible detail of the wired and plumbed Ford 351 engine with tunnel-ram-mounted blower, and the doors open to show the accurately detailed interior. As this is the "Road Warrior" version, the rear trunk and window have been removed to make room for the twin fuel tanks, spare tire, and of course, dog food. The front air dam is also gone, and the passenger door has the special pet seat attached inside, as in the film. Accessories include a spare tire (accurate BF Goodrich Radial T/A) with chain, two jerry cans, two knives (one for the interior, one for under the chassis), a carton and two separate cans of Dinki Di dog food, and a very nice figure of "Dog." Right, so who's got the 1/18 Mel Gibson-as-Max figure?
This version of AutoArt's amazing Interceptor is heavily weathered to perfectly match the car as see in the film.
