This is a resin detail parts set for use with aircraft kits.
Just before World War II, in 1939, the WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force) was established in the form of separating the aviation-related units of the ATS (Auxiliary Local Volunteer Force). Unlike the ATA (Air Transport Reserve), it was basically a logistical support job on the ground, performing aircraft maintenance, weather observation, wireless communication, intelligence activities and more; but especially in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940, they were active in radar detection and mapping of Luftwaffe aircraft, interceptor guidance from the command room, and more. Deputy Squad Leader was a rank that continued to be used in the ATS when it was first established, and was later changed to Corporal, as in the Royal Air Force.
This 1/16-scale figure model kit from Life Miniatures provides us with a British Air Force Women's Support Unit WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Aiur Force) Deputy Commander, as seen before and after the Battle of Britain in the early days of World War II. She is neatly dressed in her blue Air Force uniform and cap, standing up straight, but with a mug in her hand and a relaxed expression on her face. She carries a helmet on her shoulder bag. Order her for your own collection today!
