The Achilles is a tank destroyer that replaced the main gun of the M10, which was lend-leased from the United States to the United Kingdom during World War II, with the Ordnance QF 17-pounder gun. The Achilles was deployed in the Normandy landing operation in June 1944, and was later deployed to British Commonwealth forces such as the Canadian and Polish forces, and was active on the Western and Italian fronts until the end of the war. After the war, it was supplied to Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Egypt, and other countries. During the Second Middle East War, the Egyptian Army operated Achilles in the fight against the Israeli Army, and some of them were captured by the Israeli Army. In addition, during the Korean War, the Canadian Army put a small number of Achilles into action.
