The JR 713 series is an alternating current suburban electric train introduced in 1983. Originally developed for electrifying local lines, it debuted as a prototype. Initially operated on lines like the Nagasaki Main Line and Sasebo Line, it was repurposed exclusively for the Miyazaki Airport Line upon its opening in 1996. Renamed "Sunshine Miyazaki," its exterior was redesigned with a red-based livery.

*Note: Power unit TM-14 (20m class A2), running parts set TT-03R, and pantograph PS37A<0288> are recommended.
