The HB-E210 series is a diesel railcar owned by JR East that was introduced in 2015.
This series was manufactured as a dedicated vehicle for the Sengoku-Tohoku Line, which runs directly from Sendai Station on the Tohoku Main Line via the connecting line to Ishinomaki Station on the Sengoku Line.
The body design is based on the E129 series electric train, and since the train operates through both the AC electrified Tohoku Main Line and the DC electrified Sengoku Line, it is equipped with a diesel hybrid system.
As of September 2024, the Sengoku-Tohoku Line operates one round-trip special rapid service per day, connecting Sendai Station and Ishinomaki Station in a minimum of 49 minutes.
