In the year following the completion of the Kurobe Dam, on August 1, 1964, the Kansai Electric Power Tunnel Trolleybus began its operation, marking its 60th anniversary.
In 2019, it transitioned from a trolleybus to an electric bus, continuously transporting visitors along the "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route," one of Japan's premier mountain tourism routes.
In April 2024, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the bus service, a special design wrapped electric bus will commence operation.
The bus No. 1009, featuring the special design wrap, will be produced as part of The Bus Collection.
