This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The KC-135 is an aerial refueling aircraft that the U.S. has used since 1957. With the advent of jet bombers in the 1950s, aerial refueling jet aircraft capable of flying at the same speed were developed. The KC-135E is the type that uses a JT3D turbofan engine, and it has been in use by the Air Force National Guard and the Air Force Reserve since 1982. The new engine has improved its take-off performance and extended its cruising range. Over 160 of this aircraft have been built; all of the Air Force National Guard KC-135E were retired by 2009.
This kit from Minicraft features details such as the rear flying boom parts unique to aerial refueling machines; the aircraft can be assembled in flight or parked. Decals by Cartograf are included for two versions, including one referred to as "Shamu," with white underbelly markings. Order yours today!
