This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

Developed as an advanced version of the F/A-18C/D Hornet, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet began deployment in 1999. In order to improve the lack of cruising distance and weapon loading, which were considered to be one of the major weaknesses of the C/D type, the fuselage of the E/F was made larger. In addition to successfully increasing the fuel tank capacity and extending the cruising range, hard points were newly established on the enlarged wings and other areas, and the amount of weapons loaded was also increased. After that, it developed into Block II through constant improvements and renovations. In April 2020, the development of Block III started with the end of production of Block II. As one of Block III's main equipment, a Conformal Fuel Tank (CFT) was developed that follows the aircraft's shaft, reducing its impact on flight performance. The CFT installed on both sides of the fuselage's central spine further expands the operational range of the Super Hornet, and is expected to play a major role.

This model kit from Platz reproduces the U.S. Navy's carrier-based F/A-18F Super Hornet equipped with a CFT (conformal fuel tank). The parts are made by Dragon, with their customary sharp finish, and a newly designed CFT and weapon pod that can be attached to the center of the aircraft are included, made with resin parts. The landing gear and cockpit are also delicately modeled; decals by Cartograf for two versions are included for the VFA-103 Jolly Rogers. Order yours today!
