Saab 37 Viggen - Photo Reconnaissance Variant

• Description: This is the photo reconnaissance variant, characterized by its nose mounted with reconnaissance cameras.

The Saab 37 Viggen, developed as the successor to the Saab 35 Draken, made its first flight in 1967. Produced between 1970 and 1990, it was exclusively used by the Swedish Air Force. The Viggen addressed issues with the Draken, such as poor flight stability and runway damage from jet exhaust, by incorporating canards (forward wings) into its delta wing design. It also features a unique thrust reverser system, allowing for rapid deceleration with a landing roll of about 500 meters.
