Description
This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
In the late 1800s, German inventors August von Parseval and Hans Georg Friedrich von Sigsfeld developed a tethered balloon with a slender and elongated envelope called "Drachenballon" (Kite Balloon) as a replacement for the spherical balloons used for military purposes since the 1700s. This innovation aimed to improve stability in the airspace compared to the earlier spherical balloons.
The Drachen Observation Balloon proved to be significantly more stable, leading to the establishment of balloon units in Germany during World War I. The Allies also utilized similar balloons, copying the Drachen Observation Balloon for purposes such as artillery observation and reconnaissance. Despite the rapid technological advancements in aviation and airships during that time, the Drachen Observation Balloon continued to be used until the 1920s.
The kit includes etching, decals, and a balloon stand. Note that the base is not included in the kit.
