This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The 3M is a development of the M-4, which first flew in 1953.
The M-4 is equipped with four Mikulin AM-3 turbojet engines in the wing root and tandem landing gear with main landing gear in front and behind the fuselage and auxiliary wheels on the left and right wing tips, capable of carrying a payload of up to 24 tons. Although the bomber was developed using innovative technology, it had a problem that its range was too short for a strategic bomber.
The 3M, developed by Myasishchev, were changed to the Dobrynin RD-7 engine, which is more fuel efficient than the M-4. In addition redesigning the fuselage is to reduce the weight of the aircraft while increasing the size of the main wings. Also, by installation of an aerial refueling probe in the nose of the aircraft has made it possible to significantly extend its cruising range.
The 3M made its first flight in 1956, and troop deployment began in 1958.
The 3MD is an anti-ship/cruise missile carrier type powered by VD-7B engines.
This injection plastic kit comes with new nose and tail parts made from new molds for the 3MD, three types of Soviet decals, etched parts and painted mask stickers. When completed, the kit will measure approximately 365mm in width.
