This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The F-22A Raptor is the main fighter that the U.S. Air Force began deploying in 2005 as a successor to the F-15 Eagle. In addition to the stealth shape, this aircraft stores its weapons, such as air-to-air missiles, in the weapon bay in its underside; it's equipped with two turbofan engines to demonstrate a maximum speed of Mach 2.25 and Mach 1.8. In addition, a thrust deflection type exhaust port is adopted for the engine, boasting high mobility. In line with the deployment by the U.S. Air Force, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force was initially scheduled to introduce the F-22A as a candidate for the next main fighter to succeed the F-15 Eagle, but its adoption has been postponed by several factors.
This model kit from Platz reproduces the F-22A in JASDF specifications, assuming a fictitious appearance once the U.S. Air Force's Raptor is introduced to the JASDF. The parts are made by Ftoys, making them easy to assemble, and highly detailed parts for two aircraft are included. The weapon bay on the underside of the aircraft that houses the missiles can be opened and closed, and the missiles inside are reproduced. Offshore camouflage markings are included for the JASDF 3rd Squadron Ibaraki Prefecture Hyakuri Base, JASDF 6th Squadron Fukuoka Prefecture Tsukijo Base, and JASDF 8th Squadron Fukuoka Prefecture Tsukijo Base, made by Cartograf.
