This is an injection-plastic airliner model kit.
The DC-9 is a twin-engine small jet airliner developed in the United States and first flown in 1965.
Planning for this aircraft began in 1963 as a 70- to 90-seat small airliner with twin JT8D engines and a T-tail, as a replacement for reciprocating engine airliners.
The DC-9 was a great commercial success due to its outstanding economy and high reliability, and was gradually enlarged through repeated improvements. 976 DC-9-30s were produced, with the first prototype taking off in February 1965.
The DC-9-30 had a 4.55-meter longer fuselage, 1-meter longer wingtips, an increased maximum takeoff weight of 55 tons, the ability to use several types of JT8D engines, and the addition of leading edge slats to the main wings, making it the definitive version. 662 of these aircraft were produced.
