Roden brings us their 1/144 Douglas C-133B Cargomaster kit! The U.S. military had been aware of the importance of strategic transport aircraft from an early stage, and had been developing transport aircraft such as the Globemaster. In the 1950s, they requested a larger transport aircraft from Douglas. A plane with four turboprops, high wings, low floors and ramps was developed, and in 1954 the first mass-produced version made its first flight without a prototype. By 1959, the B-type with the extended fuselage and rear cargo door changed to open to the left and right entered production. At the time, this was the only aircraft able to transport ballistic missiles, but all Cargomasters were retired in 1971 with the launch of the C-5 Galaxy.
