This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
At the beginning of the Pacific War, the Flying 50th Sentai Denko Combat Corps flew from Taiwan to the Battle of the Philippines in old-fashioned Type 97 fighters, and then in January 1942, fought in the Battle of Burma. In March, Major Tadashi Ishikawa, who once worked in the Army's Flight Experiment Department's Combat Team, was appointed as the new squadron commander. The squadron returned to the mainland in April, and began conversion to Type 1 fighters (Hayabusa Type 1) at Tokorozawa and Akeno. On June 8, 45 of the Hayabusa Type 1 departed from Tokorozawa. After conducting training and air defense missions in Singapore, they advanced to Mingaladon Airfield in Burma in September. After that, they fought valiantly in air battles in Burma and India with the 64th Flight Squadron. The Flying 50th Sentai was also called the Denkou Sentai (Lightning Combat Corps).
Sweet's latest model aircraft kit features a box illustration by Yukihisa Fujita based on a newly discovered photograph of the Hayabusa Type 1 of the 50th Sentai 1st Company (Red Denko). NASA-chan and Lucky, the black cat, appear on the back of the box in thunder god costumes too! This model kit includes parts to build two Hayabusa Type 1 aircraft, with decals by Cartograf for six version, including Sergeant Anabuki's favorite plane (Fubuki-go), Sergeant Sasaki (Tobi-go), and Sergeant Shimokawa (Shi-go).
