This is a resin detail parts set for use with aircraft kits.
This 1/12th scale figure is a deputy squadron leader of the WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force), a women's support unit of the Royal Air Force in the early stages of World War II, around the time of the Battle of Britain.
She is wearing her blue RAF uniform and cap and is standing upright, but her expression is relaxed as she holds a mug in her hand.
His helmet is slung over his shoulder bag.
The WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force) was established in 1939, just before World War II, by separating the aviation-related units of the ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Volunteer Service).
Unlike the ATA (Air Transport Reserve), the WAAF basically worked as logistical support on the ground, performing aircraft maintenance, weather observation, radio communications, intelligence activities, etc. In particular, during the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940, the WAAF was active in radar detection and mapping of Luftwaffe aircraft and guiding interceptors from the command post. The "Vice Squadron Leader" was established at the beginning of the company.
The "Vice Squadron Leader" was a rank that continued to be used by the ATS when it was first established, and was later changed to Corporal, as was the case with the Royal Air Force.
