The shoebill, also known as a whalehead, is a large storklike bird from Africa, standing up to 150cm tall with a wingspan of up to 2.6 meters. Although the Western world did not discover this unique-looking bird until the 19th century, the Egyptians were familiar enough with it to depict it in their art. Here's a small, portable-sized shoebill, accurately sculpted and beautifully painted, and a mere 12cm tall. A base is included to help it stand upright.
