This is an injection-plastic kit of a science-fiction/anime item.

The U.S.S. Excelsior from "Star Trek" is the first of her class, commissioned between the 23rd and 24th centuries, and was the first space battleship to be equipped with a transwarp drive. After the Trans Warp Drive experiment, she was outfitted with a normal warp engine and commissioned in 2285. She first appeared in 1984's "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock," and also appeared in the fourth, fifth and sixth "Star Trek" films. Known as a masterpiece spaceship, she continued to operate into the 24th century. 

This model kit from AMT/ERTL brings us an assertively-sized (nearly 50cm long!) 1/1000-scale version of the Excelsior, with a high degree of realism and with Bill George's design faithfully represented.
