Description

This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

The PBY Catalina was a twin-engine reciprocating flying boat that was developed in 1933 and flew for the first time in 1935. It was used for anti-submarine patrols and salvage in the U.S. Navy and other Allied countries during World War II. It was a high-wing monoplane with the floats of both wings positioned near the wing tips to reduce air resistance and increase the wing area. It was easy to control, had a cruising range of over 4,800km, and was capable of continuous flight for 15 hours. In addition to patrol and bombing, it was also used for a variety of tasks such as search and rescue, and light cargo transportation to remote islands. The PBY-5A is the most produced type of this aircraft. Retractable wheels were installed on the underside of the nose and the sides of the fuselage, to change it to an amphibious type for more flexible operation.

This model kit from Atlantis comes with pilot and gunner figures, plus two under-wing torpedoes. The landing gear can be built in either parked or in-flight configuration, and it comes with decals of two versions, once of which is the markings of the Catalina dispatched to the rescue at the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis in 1945. Order yours today!

  • [Includes]: Pilot figure, gunner figure, 2 torpedoes, decals for 2 versions
