A beautifully finished model of the Mercury capsule Friendship 7, the spacecraft that took the first American (John Glenn) into orbit on February 20, 1962 with the Mercury-Atlas 6 mission. Glenn was actually the third American into space, but the first into orbit, as the first two manned Mercury missions were sub-orbital. The model features great detail and includes a detachable Launch Escape System assembly and a display stand. Atlas launch vehicle not included!
