The first new armored combat vehicle (ACV) to enter US Military service since the M2 Bradley back in the '80s, the M1126 Stryker is an eight-wheeled all-wheel-drive ACV weighing between 16 and 19 tons and capable of speeds up to 100KPH. Based on the Canadian LAV III and Mowag Piranha and named for two Medal of Honor-winning US servicemen in WWII and Vietnam, the modular Stryker can be outfitted to perform a wide variety of missions, such as infantry carrier, reconnoissance, mobile gun system, mortar carrier, command vehicle, battlefield ambulance, and a host of others. The Stryker was first deployed to Iraq in October 2003, where it has earned a good reputation with the soldiers operating it. Trumpeter strykes first (sorry, had to say it!) in the 1/35 Stryker wars with its new M1126 Stryker ICV. The molding in gray styrene is sharp and crisp, with plenty of detail, particularly the suspension. Tires are rendered in black vinyl, and a nice fret of photo-etched detail parts is included. All hatches are positionable, with some inner hatch detail included, but there is no other interior detail in the vehicle. Markings are included for several vehicles.
