People in the AFV model industry seems to try every approach they can think of for model design. Trumpeter's ambitious kit has two ways of reproducing the wheels and tracks. One is the traditional design with separate parts as a 1/35 scale kit. The other way is an all-in-one type. Amazingly, the full suspension of the JS-3 (except the outer road & idler wheels, and an inner sprocket wheel) including road wheels, torsion bars and a full set of linked tracks are molded as one piece, greatly simplifying assembly. Overall, this kit has sharp moldings and good details, far superior to the old kit from the 1970's. The muzzle brake is open-molded, too. Tracks for the standard modeling approach are provided, too, with partial-linked track parts that are themselves excellent moldings in injection plastic. The natural sag of the upper run is molded, too. This is really the state of the art in 1/72!
