The heavy torpedo cruiser is an obsolete idea in the world of modern naval weapon systems, but Russia resurrected the idea with new weaponry: anti-surface ship missiles (SSM). This Slava-class cruiser has 16 launcher tubes for SS-N-12 SSM, giving the ship a distinctive appearance as a hard attacker -- although western military experts criticize the vulnerability of this "missile-forest" display on board. Trumpeter reproduces the Varyag as a beautifully detailed injection plastic kit. It can be built as either a waterline model or full-hull model, and comes with a nice replica of a Ka-27 helicopter.
