1/72 F-105D Thunderchief

Trumpeter's latest 1/72 kit is this very nice F-105D. Looking at the parts in the box, it seems they have correctly captured the subtle curved taper of the nose, so that is a big point in their favor. Surface detail consists of recessed panel lines and Trumpeter's trademark recessed rivets. The landing gear and afterburner detail look very good, but the cockpit relies on decals for the panels. The Vulcan cannon and retractable IFR probe can be exposed or buttoned up. Armament consists of centerline and underwing drop tanks, two MERs, eight Mk82 slicks, and two Bullpup missiles, so there are plenty of options there. Speedbrakes and canopy can be posed open or closed. Markings are for a sharkmouthed silver 61-183 of the 334th TFS, a camoflaged 61-132 of the 334th TFS, and "Polish Glider" 59-822 of the 466th TFS.
