Ferrari's F40 was named in celebration of the company's 40th anniversary, and was introduced at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show; it was at that time Ferrari's most advanced factory car, featuring a tubular steel spaceframe covered with durable Kevlar and carbon fibre panels, and with a top speed of over 320km/h. In the 1993 Italian GT, Ferrari entered a number of F40s, including the specially-modified MonteShell "Jolly Club" car, driven by Marco Brand to a stunning 8 out of 10 races, each of them a Pole to Finish, to take the championship.
Tamiya's gorgeous, full-engine kit is beautifully-detailed, with crisply-molded injection plastic body and interior parts, slick rubber tires, photo-etched detail parts (brake disks, grilles, etc.), and exquisite decals printed by Cartograf. More than worth the price!
