1/35 King Tiger Henschell Completed

This series is Tamiya' s answer to the recent trends in the market toward finished models. Basically, these tank models are made from the plastic parts which made up Tamiya's original MM series kits. But they didn't just use these parts; Tamiya added some special features to the model. A lathed aluminum barrel, cast metal tracks and photo-etched mesh parts for engine grilles enhance the authenticity and reality of the finished models. Painting and markings are beautifully done, of course; a light weathering finish is also applied to the models. Series #6 represents the German King Tiger Henschel turret model belonging to SSsPzAbt.501 (SS 501st Heavy Tank Battalion, which acted as a battering ram as part of the famous Kampfgruppe "Peiper" in the Battle of the Bulge). Paint and markings are in the three-tone camouflage scheme with many small spots painted within each other.
