The JMSDF DDH-182 Mirai is a fictional ship from the Japanese manga and anime "Zipang." The design of the Mirai is based on the current JMSDF DDG Kongo-class Aegis missile cruisers. A notable difference is the extended tail deck section; it is 10 meters longer than that of the actual Kongo-class cruisers. Pit-Road's Mirai is their excellent 1/350 Kongo-class kit (a joint project with Trumpeter models) with new parts for Mirai-specific superstructure and detail parts, plus the extended tail deck section (extends only the landing pad to make it look like the Mirai; does not extend the hull itself). Also, instead of the standard SH-60J as used on actual Kongo-class ships, the fictional tilt-rotor plane "Umidori" is included. The Mirai can be built as either a full-hull or waterline model, and includes a nice stand with nameplate for the full-hull version.
