1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX
Code: ITA2651![]() |
Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful aircraft of all time, the Spitfire went through many changes during its illustrious career as Britain's premier fighter. The Spitfire Mk. IX was developed to answer the appearance of the German Focke-Wulf 190A, which hopelessly outclassed the existing Mk. V Spits in 1942. Although it was only intended as a stop-gap measure to hold off the Focke-Wulfs until the previously planned Mk. VIII could be put into production, the Mk. IX proved to be so capable that 5,665 were built. This new release by italeri in 1/48 scale includes markings for four Spitfires, two of which are postwar aircraft.
