The Shirase is the second icebreaking Antarctic observation ship deployed by the JMSDF (the first was the Soya) and is still active, decades after its commision in 1982. The Shirase is also the first over-10,000-ton class ship of the JMSDF.
This is a limited edition 1/700 scale injection-molded "High Grade" kit with photo-etched parts of the JMSDF Icebreaker Shirase. This waterline model comes with two types of helicopters (OH-6D & S-61).
