Originally named Deutschland and classified as a battleship when commissioned in April of 1933, this ship's name was changed to Lutzow at the beginning of WWII and its classification changed to Heavy Cruiser (although the British still referred to the class as "pocket battleships"). The Lutzow ended its career as a fixed battery against the Soviets before being scuttled by its crew in 1945.

Heller's kit of the Lutzow measures 46.8cm long (18.4 inches) when completed.
