What a blast from the past! Hobby Japan offers up this groovy set of reprints of their classic books on how to build Gundam plastic model kits and customization tips! The books were well-referenced guides to modelers during the Gunpla boom of the early 1980s in Japan. How To Build Gundam was originally published in July 1981 followed by How To Build Gundam 2 in May 1982. The first book has 138 pages (24 in color) and the second book has 146 pages (32 in color). Published in celebration of Hobby Japan's 40th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the 1979 "Mobile Suit Gundam" anime.
The books cover various interesting topics that include advice from professional modelers on how to build kits of Mobile Suits in various scales, as well as adding light-up LED eyes, customizing kits with battle damage, recasting molds, dry brushing techniques, constructing dioramas, and more. There are also helpful tips on taking pictures of your models and dioramas, a beginner's guide to modeling, and the necessary tools and materials for building the Mobile Suit kits. Includes lots of pictures of Bandai's model kits and scratch-built kits by pros, too! Softcover with slip cover. All text is in Japanese.
