Apparently unsatisfied with the 18-inch (46cm) guns of the Yamato and Musashi, the largest ever installed on a warship, the IJN wanted to up the ante even further by installing monstrous 20-inch (51cm) guns in three two-gun turrets, rather than the original three-gun turrets, on two "Super Yamato"-class battleships, but those plans were abandoned in 1942.
Almost 65 years later, Fujimi has finally realized the dream of mounting those massive cannons on a Yamato hull with the release of their new "Super Yamato-Class Battleship" waterline kit in 1/700 scale. Sharply molded in gray styrene, the kit includes the new two-gun turrets and 20-inch guns of the Super Yamato as well as the normal three-gun turrets and 18-inch guns of the Yamato and Musashi, so it appears that the kit includes parts for any version.
