This item is an injection-plastic racing car model kit. It requires both cement and painting to complete or use.
Porsche introduced the 917 to the LeMans in 1969, but trouble with the car's stability and aerodynamics caused it to wash out completely, with none of the entries even finishing the race. Porsche went to work and shortened the tail of the car and added new spoilers. This new version was the 917K (K for "Kurtz", or "short"), and it made racing history, winning the LeMans in 1970 and '71. Five-litre engines were banned at LeMans in 1972, but the car went on to dominate the American CanAm series in '72 and '73. With over 1,000bhp, they were virtually invincible.
Fujimi's kit does credit to this great car, with surprisingly fine suspension work (molded in black; body is molded in red), and decals for, of course, the car driven by Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann Winner.
