Assembly Guide

The 76mm-gun-equipped Sherman was designed for tank-versus-tank combat. Surprisingly (or not!), US tankers regarded infantry support as a more important issue and preferred the 75mm-gun-equipped Sherman with its powerful HE ammo. As a result of this preference, deployment of the up-gunned tank was delayed.

Dragon's model is of the M4A3(76)W. The new engine deck and early model T-23 turret parts have been added to their previous "M4A2 Red Army" kit. Like the previous release, this kit also includes an aluminum replacement main gun barrel, a set of photo-etched metal detail parts, and transparent plastic periscopes. Also, Dragon's Tank Crew Set and "US 101st Airbone Div. 'Bastogne 1944'" are included in the box. The T48 rubber chevron-style tracks are provided as individual link injection-molded plastic parts. Time consuming, but well worth the effort! Markings for six vehicles are provided, including "Thunderbolt IV," a famous tank used by Tank Battalion Commander Creighton Abrams during the Battle of the Bulge.
