1/48 Ju88P-1 Tank Buster

An airplane that illustrates all too well how desperate the Germans were late in the war: the Ju88P-1. The Ju88 was originally a bomber, later converted to heavy fighter and night-fighter (a role in which it excelled), then made into an attack airplane. In a bid to stop the Russian armored columns driving towards Germany, a small handful of aircraft were modified by adding a large belly pack containing a 75mm anti-tank cannon. The details of their use, if indeed any were actually used in combat, seems lost to history, but it is hard to imagine they were very useful, and they certainly didn't have the hoped-for effect.

This kit is a reissue of the Dragon A/C kit, with new-tool parts for the belly pack and gun. The complete gun assembly is included and can be exposed through open panels. A new armored nose cone is also included. Decals for one aircraft from an unknown unit - almost certainly a prototype used in testing.
