A Japanese-language book devoted to the I-16. When it first appeared, the little Ishak was quite advanced, being the world's first cantilever monoplane with retractable landing gear. It was rapidly surpassed by other designs, but soldiered on valiantly for years, and in the right hands remained a formidable opponent. This edition of Famous Airplanes of the World may as well be called "early Polikarpov fighters," as besides covering the complete development and history of the I-16 it also covers the I-15 and I-153. Like previous entries in the series, the book is chock full of color profiles and black and white photos of the various versions of the type(s), and also includes multi-view plans.
