The Buccaneer was developed for the Royal Navy as a carrier-borne nuclear strike aircraft. After the RAF went through the TSR.2 and follow-on F-111K debacles, they found themselves still in search of a low-level strike aircraft, and that search led them right to their own backyard where Hawker Siddeley was turning out, in best British tradition, an ungainly aircraft that did its job exceptionally well. This 1/72 kit is of the RAF version, as used for many years right through the first Gulf War.
