The British Centurion MBT was one of the most widely used tanks in the West during the Cold War, appearing in a wide range of variations. The IDF Shot Kal was armed with a 105mm gun and fitted with a diesel engine.
AFV Club adds to its stable of Centurions with this IDF Shot Kal 1973 variant. As with the previous kits, many of the grab handles and guard plates are molded as separate parts, and a nice fret of photo-etched parts is included. The suspension bogies are workable via brass springs, and the road wheels have rubber-like tires made of soft plastic. The nicely formed 105mm gun barrel is lathed aluminum with rifling detail and a two-piece plastic bore evacuator. Periscopes, including those of the commander's cupola, are molded in transparent plastic. A length of nylon twine is included for the tow cable. The tracks are the cementable rubber belt type, and are nicely detailed. Includes newly tooled parts to make the diesel-engined Israeli Defense Force Shot Kal 1973 version, with markings for four Yom Kippur War vehicles.
