From Liberty Planet, known for its exceptional "Space Battleship Yamato" items, comes the grandest model yet of the legendary space battleship! How great is this Yamato? Well, one was on display at the 2009 Tokyo International Anime Fair, in an area promoting the then-upcoming "Space Battleship Yamato: Rebirth" movie--and when we visited, most of the crowd wasn't watching the video monitor or reading the movie details decorating the walls; they were gathered around the meter-long Yamato, snapping photos of it or posing for photos with it! (Well, okay, they headed for the two gals dressed in Yuki Mori costumes first...but after that, most made a beeline for the Yamato!)

Produced in 2006, and approved by series co-creator Leiji Matsumoto--a photo of Matsumoto-sensei with an example of this Yamato is included--this one-meter-long (just over 39 inches!) likeness of the Yamato captures the ship's anime design, and has been crafted from polyresin and PVC. It's already painted, and requires just the attaching of some detail parts to be ready for display! The display base shown below is part of this impressive package, with built-in spaces to also show off the included examples of various craft the Yamato carried throughout her space voyages (the Cosmo Zero, etc.).

This top-quality Yamato is sure to be the showpiece of any anime collection, and any household! A fantastic, and tremendously deserved, tribute to this anime icon that means so much to so many of us.
