The compact pickup truck bearing the name LUV, pronounced as "Love," was sold as a Chevrolet from 1972 to 1982.
In reality, it was a badge-engineered version of a car sold by Japan's Isuzu under the Faster nameplate, which is why it has a somewhat Japanese appearance.
At the time, GM lacked the expertise to manufacture such small pickups.
However, in 1982, they managed to produce their first compact pickup, the S10 series, and discontinued the sale of the LUV.
